Coffee and Cream Soap

This ONO soap is made of olive oil, coconut oil, coffee, unused coffee grounds, and milk.  It can potentially help in the healing of minor cuts and wounds and can fight body odor.  It is also an exfoliator. 

Direct Benefit.  The direct benefit of using this product is that, because it is all-natural and does not contain chemicals that can cause irritation or allergies, it is both healthy and earth-friendly. 

Potential Benefits from Active Ingredients. Free radicals are responsible for premature skin ageing.  They cause the appearance of wrinkles and sunspots and cause the skin to lose its elasticity.

The caffeine in coffee fights these free radicals and eliminates them from the skin, thus giving the skin an improved over-all look.

Caffeine is also anti-inflammatory and is therefore effective in reducing inflammation and redness, particularly those caused by insect bites and minor cuts and wounds.  It constricts blood vessels and works as a diuretic.  It is therefore effective against swelling and can give the skin a firm and tight appearance.

Because of its diuretic properties, caffeine is said to be effective against cellulite. Water is dehydrated from fatty cells found on the surface of the skin, resulting to skin that is more even and smooth.

Milk, on the other hand, is a natural skin exfoliant.  It is said to have beta hydroxy acid which helps eliminate dead skin cells.  It is also rich in lactic acid which can lighten the skin.  Milk can also shrink pores and is loaded with vitamins and minerals that can make the skin look radiant and smooth.  It is also a good moisturizer for dry skin and can restore the skin’s natural moisture and elasticity.

Note on Exfoliants.  This soap is an exfoliant due to the coffee grounds that are present in the bar. Exfoliants should not be rubbed on the skin daily, otherwise the skin will not have time to grow back.  Overuse of exfoliants can potentially cause rashes.

Use.  Because this soap is an exfoliant, it should be used directly on the skin only 2-3 times a week.  If it has to be used daily, do not rub directly on the skin.  Lather using hands and and use hands to apply.

Safety Check.  This soap is safe for pregnant and lactating mothers.  However, do not use this soap on children under 2 years old, or on people with sensitive skin.  The ingredients are safe, but the bar may be too rough for them.

Caution.  If you find the soap too rough, do not rub directly on your skin.  Instead, lather with hands and use hands to apply.  This is especially applicable for pregnant women and young children.
